Yard Measure — Privacy Policy

Before publishing: replace [PUBLISHER] with the legal name that will appear as the developer on the store listing, and [CONTACT EMAIL] with the address you are willing to publish. Both must match the Play Console and App Store Connect entries exactly. Delete this box once done.

Yard Measure does not have a server, an account system, or any analytics.

Everything you measure stays on your own device. We cannot see your measurements, your sites, or where you have been, because none of it is ever sent to us.

Who this is from

Yard Measure is published by [PUBLISHER] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information. It applies to the Yard Measure app on Android and iOS and to the web version.

What we collect

Nothing. We operate no server and no database. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not use analytics or advertising software, we do not use cookies for tracking, and we do not sell, rent, or share information about you with anyone for marketing.

There is no "delete my data" request to make, because we are not holding any.

What the app stores on your device

The app saves your work in your device's local browser storage so that it survives closing the app. This never leaves your device unless you deliberately export or share it.

WhatWhy
Measured jobs — zones, corner points and their coordinates, areas and lengthsSo a job is still there when you come back to it
Your site library — labels, addresses, customers, groups, notes, and a site's coordinatesSo you can start a job at a place you measure regularly
Your settings — snow, fence and material preferences, themeSo the app does not ask you the same question twice
The last map positionSo the map opens where you work instead of somewhere irrelevant

To erase all of it: uninstall the app, or clear the site's storage in your browser settings. That removes everything above permanently. We keep no copy.

Location

Yard Measure asks for location permission because measuring a site by walking its corners is the main thing it does.

Third parties the app talks to

The app has to fetch map imagery and, if you use the search box, look up an address. Those requests go directly from your device to the providers below. As with loading any web page, those providers can see your IP address and what you asked for. We receive nothing from them about you.

ProviderWhat it receivesWhen
Esri / ArcGIS Online
worldwide satellite imagery
Your IP address and the map tiles requested, which indicate the area you are looking at Whenever the map is shown outside the local imagery areas
Municipality of Anchorage
high-resolution local imagery and parcel outlines
Your IP address and the map area requested When the map is over Anchorage
Matanuska-Susitna Borough
high-resolution local imagery and parcel outlines
Your IP address and the map area requested When the map is over the Mat-Su Borough
TomTom
address search
Your IP address and the text you typed into the search box Only when you search for an address
unpkg
delivers the mapping library
Your IP address When the app loads and the library is not already cached

Each provider handles that data under its own privacy policy: Esri, TomTom, Municipality of Anchorage, Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

Things you choose to send

The app can produce a snapshot image, a JSON export, or a CSV of your work. Those files are created on your device and go only where you send them — an email, a message, a file in your storage. Once you share a file, it is governed by whatever service you shared it through, not by this policy.

Children

Yard Measure is a tool for site and grounds work. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children — because we do not collect information at all.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. The data the app creates is on your device and entirely under your control: you can view it in the app, export it, or delete it by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it, and the updated version will be posted at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
